Nairo Quintana, campeón Vuelta España 2016
El colombiano Nairo Quintana hace historia en el ciclismo nacional tras ganar la Vuelta a España 2016 y ya son dos de los tres títulos de las grandes competencias que el colombiano se lleva a Boyacá, el único que le ha sido esquivo es el Tour de Francia.
El ciclista colombiano tras haber competido en el Giro de Italia y el Tour de Francia, logró finalmente en la Vuelta a España imponerse sobre Chris Froome, Alejandro Valverde, Alberto Contador y hasta el mismo compatriota Esteban Chaves.
Sin duda alguna es un día histórico para el país, ya que no solo Nairo Consigue ganar la competición que en el 1987 ‘Lucho’ Herrera también ganó, sino que esta vez en el podio se ondeará dos banderas colombianas y España bailará al ritmo de los colombianos.
Nairo Quintana despertó en Cibeles de su sueño rojo e hizo realidad su triunfo absoluto en la 71 edición de la Vuelta a España, su segunda grande después del Giro 2014, la que le permite tomar el testigo de su compatriota Lucho Herrera, ganador de la ronda española hace 29 años.
Fiesta colombiana a la que se sumó el danés Magnus Cort Nielsen (Orica) como ganador al esprint de la vigésimo primera y última etapa disputada en formato paseo y homenaje al vencedor a través de 104 kilómetros con salida en Las Rozas y meta junto a la Plaza de Cibeles.
Nielsen logró el doblete después de que ya se impusiera en Gandía y el cuarto triunfo de equipo para la formación australiana. En un final muy apretado se impuso ante el italiano Daniele Bennati (Tinkoff)
Ajeno a la pelea por la etapa entraba sonriente y vestido de rojo Nairo Quintana, de 26 años, abrazando un sueño rojo que puede unir al rosa del Giro de Italia. Todo un récord para un héroe en Colombia que ahora insistirá en el sueño amarillo, el del Tour de Francia, su gran cuenta pendiente.
